Excerpt: The United Nations resolution 181 (II) of 1947 sought the partitioning of Palestine into two states, with one international city. The resolution, however, was never realized. Today, the question of Palestine still confounds the global community. The stark reality of the Middle East peace process is that the numerous diplomatic initiatives have all fallen short, even when efforts were made upon seemingly sound political foundations.
